Large-Scale Project Delivery: Global Standards and Local Realities
Delivering large-scale, complex projects with stakeholders located across multiple countries requires balancing global requirements with local adaptability.
As companies look to expand across diverse EMEA markets, it is essential to build trust with clients who may be supervising projects remotely. We also need to ensure creative visions are respected despite technical and regulatory constraints, which may differ from one country to another.
We sat down with Josée Seif, Delivery Project Manager at Allure, to discuss how efficient project management in construction can bridge these challenges.
How do you ensure both consistency of the client’s global vision and local adaptability on the ground?
Alignment with the client’s global vision is ensured by fully understanding their design guidelines, corporate standards, and strategic objectives at the start of the project. Consistency is maintained through regular communication with global design and project teams, documenting decisions, and implementing standardized processes where possible, while working closely with local sub contractors and stakeholders.
The balance is achieved by combining a strong understanding of the global vision with practical, locally informed decision-making, ensuring that the client experience remains cohesive across regions.
From your perspective, what are the key factors in maintaining strong alignment and trust with these clients throughout a project?
Efficient project management in construction starts with proactive communication, transparency, and structured reporting.
Regular updates are provided through clear, visual, and concise reports, including progress photos, site walkthrough videos, and milestone tracking. Frequent check-ins and virtual meetings ensure challenges, decisions, and changes are addressed in real time.
Trust is built by demonstrating reliability and responsiveness, addressing issues promptly, presenting solutions, and keeping clients informed at every stage. Clear documentation of decisions and approvals ensures clients feel fully in control, even from a distance.
What role does a site manager play in protecting the creative intent while navigating technical constraints?
The site manager serves as the critical link between the design vision and the realities of construction on the ground. Protecting the creative intent involves not only a deep understanding of the design goals but also a proactive approach to identifying and resolving technical, regulatory, and site-specific challenges.
This can include adjusting materials, refining construction details, or modifying schedules and sequencing to ensure that the design’s aesthetic and functional objectives are preserved. Additionally, the Site Project Manager coordinates closely with sub contractors, engineers, and consultants to implement solutions that respect both the creative vision and practical constraints.
The ultimate outcome is a project that stays true to the original vision while being technically feasible.
