Following the successful delivery of their Paris workspace, Moody’s entrusted Allure with a second project: locating, designing and delivering a new headquarters in Milan. The decision came swiftly after Paris—an unambiguous sign of trust that marked a milestone in the partnership between the two companies.
Defining the Line Between Compliance and Collaboration
Allure joined the project from day one, working closely with JLL—tenant representative and project manager—to guide Moody’s through site selection and workplace strategy, before seamlessly transitioning into design and delivery.
This project called for global expertise with local integration, balancing regulatory, cultural, and logistical challenges from the outset. Our approach:
- Brought Moody’s Analytics and Moody’s Ratings together under one roof while preserving compliance-driven separation between teams.
- Bridged international standards with local market realities, coordinating New York–based stakeholders and Milan-based construction teams across time zones.
- Leveraged cultural and linguistic diversity to facilitate smooth collaboration across partners.
Finding the Right Fit in Milan’s Competitive Porta Nuova District
The site itself—within Milan’s high-profile Porta Nuova business district—was another strategic choice. It’s a hub for international talent and business, offering prestige, accessibility, and a prime location for talent.
This location is ideal for the modern corporate workplace and supports both Moody’s employer brand as well as their client-facing operations.
Blending Italian Character with an Evolving Corporate Workplace Culture
In line with Moody’s “Purpose First” workplace strategy, the design moved away from traditional, closed finance sector standards, towards a warmer, more welcoming workspace. Allure’s design teams were inspired by Milan’s cultural context—borrowing tones, textures, and references from the city’s rich architectural heritage.
- Natural light and soft, neutral tones create a calm, professional setting.
- Arched forms and layered materials add warmth and reflect Italian style.
- Meeting rooms named after cities and local neighborhoods, further grounding the space in its surroundings.
Designing for a Hybrid Culture and a Flexible, Future-Ready Workplace
Glazed partitions preserve natural light, while layered curtains provide visual privacy without enclosing the space—supporting Moody’s hybrid work culture of socialization, mentoring, and collaboration.
The T-shaped floor plan reflects both organizational structure and user experience, separating Analytics and Ratings via badge access while centralizing shared spaces like the reception, meeting rooms, and library. Private partner offices are now bookable, adding flexibility for a mobile leadership team.
One key request: to replicate the much-loved “town hall” from Moody’s Paris office—a shared space for lunches, meetings, and larger events.
Delivering a Seamless Experience —On Time, On Brand, On Point
Despite tight timelines and strict regulatory requirements, the project ran smoothly from construction kickoff in August 2024 to completion in December 2024. Allure’s Milan-based delivery team navigated every aspect—from local contractor coordination to evolving landlord specifications—with precision and agility.
For Moody’s, the Milan office is more than a new address. It’s a statement: a future-oriented, people-first space that honors the company’s values of trust, curiosity, and impact.
